Overview

The DualShock 3 (SIXAXIS) is Sony's wireless controller for the PlayStation 3. It features pressure-sensitive buttons, dual analog sticks, rumble feedback, and SIXAXIS motion sensing.

History

Originally launched as the SIXAXIS without rumble in 2006, Sony re-introduced vibration feedback with the DualShock 3 in 2007 after settling a patent dispute with Immersion. The controller uses Bluetooth for wireless and Mini-USB for wired connections. It requires a special USB activation handshake before sending input reports.
