Overview

The Wii Remote is Nintendo's motion-sensing controller for the Wii. It uses Bluetooth and an infrared sensor bar for pointing, and can be extended with the Nunchuk and Classic Controller attachments.

History

The Wiimote revolutionized gaming when it launched with the Wii in November 2006. Its motion controls brought gaming to a mainstream audience. The Wii Remote Plus (2010) integrated the MotionPlus accessory for improved motion tracking.
