Every input plays a note, so a controller can be tested by ear. Browsers still need one click on the page before any audio can start.

Button map
Any button can play any note, one of the four drum voices, or nothing. Defaults are a C-major-pentatonic run ascending by physical position, so mashing stays musical.
Modulation
What each analog input does to the sound while you hold a note. Sticks and tilt swing both ways from centre; triggers and pressure only push one way, so they rest at neutral. Two inputs on the same target add together.

Sliding across a DualShock or DualSense touchpad plays five notes across its width, one per finger.
Loop recorder
Bind a record button and every pass over the loop lays down another layer on top of the last, each keeping the instrument it was played on. Unbound by default — nothing runs until you give it a button.

100 BPM
Bars of 4/4 before it comes back round.
Nudges recorded notes onto the beat. This is what makes a rough take sound deliberate — turn it off to keep exactly what you played.
