Overview

The Xbox 360 Controller became the de facto standard PC gamepad for over a decade. It established the XInput protocol that is still used today.

History

Released in 2005 with the Xbox 360, this controller defined modern gamepad ergonomics. The wired version connected via USB with native XInput support, making it the gold standard for PC gaming. The wireless version used a proprietary 2.4GHz radio, with a USB receiver adapter available for PC use.
